Lady Cecily Neville's Doors
In 1459 after the Battle of Ludford Bridge, Richard Duke of York abandoned his wife Cecily Neville, and his three youngest children to the mercy of Henry VI at Ludlow Castle. In an age of extreme violence her life choice sliding doors were controlled by men; her father, her brother, her husband and now the King. This is a panel of abstract images taken in the castle based on the castle door frames and representing Cecily's emotional state and sense of duty as she prepares to defend her children alone on the morning of 13 October 1459.
